Bhavani Kunjulakshmi

Bhavani Kunjulakshmi (she/her; given name Soja Subhagar) is a writer activist, cis-woman immigrant living in Berlin, Germany, currently studying gender at University College London. She’s committed to validating subaltern lived realities for radical healing and transformational justice. She firmly believes in the power of words, food and connection for the decolonization of collective double consciousness. Bhavani is a staff writer at Feminism in India, a critical intersectional feminist publication based in Delhi. She’s the founder of Kerala Soul Food, a Berlin-based community that prompts self-reflective decolonial thinking by creating awareness about the impact of colonialism on Kerala’s casteism through food. She also set up Women of Different Worlds, a Trivandrum-based community that organizes gender and sexuality awareness workshops at local schools. She is a 2021 FreshEd Fellow.
